Hi Everybody,
Happy February! I can't believe we've already gotten through January ...brrr what a cold month, but I succeeded in getting my car out once!
It's getting to be time for the April Fools Rally, which, as you might not know, is historically the only recurring fundraiser for the club. We are working on a very different route this year that will take you places that you've likely never been in a rally, much less, just driving around! I hope we can get your help with the rally committee! We could use your help creating clues and actually developing the route. If you're not interested in creating the route, how about running it? When we get closer to the actual rally, we will be soliciting club members to run the route for a good test. If you're not available to do that, we'd really like to get your help the day of the rally. It's always a blast getting to abuse your fellow Corvetters and I feel it's sometimes better than actually running it!
If you have any interest in working with the group, express your interest to either myself or Nancy Burritt (vintageslots@hypermall.net.)
I am really looking forward to getting back in the swing of things after a 4 year hiatus, so bear with me while I learn it all again. It's great to be back as president of this fine group and I consider it an honor.
Looking forward to a great year with you guys.
Save the Wave
It seems difficult to believe that just over 12 hours ago, I was in flip-flops, shorts and a short sleeve shirt! What in the world was I thinking coming home to this cold and snow!
However, the new Corvetting season is upon us already even though I'm looking out the window at an ugly gray snowy day. I guess I'd better get the skunk put back together as it is sitting in pieces parts scattered all over the garage or she'll miss the April Fool's Rally!
Come on out for the first rally planning meeting. The route this year should be quite interesting and it - as always - will take all of our collective efforts to make it the great event that it always is.
Now, let's just hope that my work commitments don't interfere with my participation too much over the next month or so.
Hope to see all of you at the meeting.
A quorum was present.
The published minutes were apporved.

Yep - this is the second Sunday in April. The first Sunday is Easter - so we had to push it out a week. Hopefully we'll be that much closer to great weather. John, Dave and I have been busy driving roads planning out a route. The roads are pretty much figured out barring any unexpected construction, events, etc. And now thanks to the internet I've been using google maps to step through the route and get the stoplights and stop signs recorded. It appears the google street view is a year or two old (from the price of gas at some of the gas stations - $3.97) - so there may be some changes - but I bet it got me 95% of the way there. Clues - just starting on them (and not as easy to do from google maps :( ) - We may be calling on some of you to help - or if anyone has a particular interest in helping pick out/construct the clues - let me know right away as we will be working on a lot of the clues prior to the committee meeting. Speaking of which ...
Now it is time to get organized on the rest of the many items it takes to put on a successful rally - and we need your help. John has called a Committee meeting for Feb. 23rd - at our house - 7 p.m.. If you can help by heading up one of the checkpoints, registration, parking/tech, etc. etc. or if you have some cool ideas - come on over. As you know - the reason we are so successful with our events year after year is that you are all a great group of people that are willing to pitch in and help. You know I strongly believe in the many hands philosophy. Plus it is more fun that way. Then at the next club meeting and/or via email we'll let you all know the dates for club test runs - but as usual - they'll probably start early March. The tentative start location is Washington and Thornton Parkway. So for those of us up "north" - very convenient. And after that - well that is the surprise part of the rally isn't it. As discussed at the January club meeting the plan is to do a non-sanctioned Gimmick Rally (our typical April Fools event), and then this year to hold two region-sanctioned Poker Rallyes (where they have to drive) vs. the pre-rally poker car show we have held in the past.
Hope you can make it to the meeting on the 23rd.. FYI - Bill is checking on getting access to a large parking lot for one of the checkpoints - so take that into account as you think of checkpoint possibilities. Remember the old reverse-steering tractor days - I'm sure some of you can get even more creative than that. See you on the 23rd.
-- Nancy
Rather than try to put the entire schedule in here, I've opted to include items both NCCC and otherwise into a close up schedule. If you want to see the entire NCCC schedule, please go to the Rocky Mountain NCCC regional site at http://www.rmrnccc.org/

Hi Everyone,
Nothing new to report since the meeting - but I'll go ahead and recap.
- Rocky Mountain Regional Awards banquet - March 6th - Flyer, menu and rsvp info on the regional website.
- The regional website - www.rmrnccc.org - has the 2010 competition calendar. Sanction #s and flyers are showing up weekly. Several new flyers were posted in the past week.
- Everyone should have received their NCCC membership packet. If you haven't - let me know. Please make sure to put the 2010 membership cards in your wallet - if you go to an NCCC event they may ask for it. Around here a lot of us know each other - but in case someone new is working registration that doesn't know you - they may ask for it.
- In the membership packet there is a green piece of paper to order raffle tickets for the Convention raffle car. This year it is 2010 Grand Sport. The drawing is July 30th. Tickets are 5 for $25, and you and your spouse/companion member can order them on the same form.
