From the Prez....

I have several comments I would like to make, but the First lady informed me I should save them for the meeting as they may not be appropriate for this format. I encourage everyone to attend the meeting Thursday night as there are only a few days until our Car Show and there are several items that should have been taken care of months ago and as of now have not been addressed. I fear not for as a group we can accomplish anything. I close by saying, doing the right thing is not always the easiest or most popular, but it is the best way.

Richard
President, DtRC

Miscellaneous ramblings from the Editor:

I can't believe that the car show is only three weeks away! I've had a couple of calls from new people interested in coming to the show, so it has all the makings of being another fantasic event!

At the same time, it appears that there is some unfinished business for the car show and I hope to see everyone at the club meeting so we can tie up the loose ends and make sure that we are able to put on our usual excellent event. I know that when we all pull together, awesome things happen and I know this event will be no different.

The month of August will be busy for our club with the car show and the trip to Gunnison on the 19th. If you are planning to go to Gunnison and you haven't already registered for the show, now would be a good time to get that registration in.

It's also time to start serious planning for the Auto-X on October 22nd. I've been in touch with the State Patrol and our date is firm, so the Auto-X leaders will be setting up a meeting soon to begin getting things organized. Mike and I hope that we can out on as good an event as has been done in the past, but it will take a lot of help to make it happen.

Remember - SAVE THE WAVE!

Tim

Black Hills Corvette Classic - 40th Annivarsary

From Tim Barnes

What a great trip - well, at least for some of us.
The trip to Deadwood, S.D. was a great drive! The leader and his navigator did a mostly excellent job of routing us around constuction and finding great back roads to drive across the desolate Wyoming wilderness. The views were great!
The trip wasn't without incident as our progress was halted due to a very bad accident on Highway 85. During the 1 1/2 hour wait for the road to be cleared, we did manage to make some friends of some carnies that were traveling in an old painted up school bus. We did however, make it to Deadwood without issues for us.

Thursday those of us who had already arrived took a trip to see Crazy Horse and for a beautiful drive through the Black Hills. The picture below is from the trip.

Friday, Pat and I decided to spend a quiet day and drove through Spearfish Canyon which was simply beautiful. However, the GrandSport let us down and instead of spending a quiet afternoon back at the hotel as planned, we wound up sitting in the local Chevy dealer with a broken car. The dealership couldn't get parts to fix the car until the following Tuesday, so we had a mad scramble to find a suitable way to get the old girl back to Denver. Instead of enjoying a hopefully memorable "Breakfast with the Presidents" on Saturday with the group, we spent it in a Budget rental truck hauling the broken beast home.

We heard that the trip Saturday was great, but that the car show that afternoon was terribly hot.

I'd like to try the trip again and get to enjoy the things we missed.

A great shot!
