The season is now officially open! Carrie, Sherman, Mike and Jackie have started on the April fool rally. Jani has the flier updated and we are all anxious to work with them to make this one rank right up there with our best.
Congratulations are in order to Muff and Ranae for their successful purchase at Mecum action. I can’t wait to see it!
Our next meeting is coming up soon. You might think about who we would like to sponsor (if anyone) this year at our car show. I have had a few members approach me with ideas and I will bring them to the membership at our next meeting. While most of us really liked Wounded warriors last year some are a little concerned with the underwhelming participation of the wounded warriors themselves. Think about this and we will discuss it at the meeting.
I for one am really looking forward to mystery meals this year! It is going to be hard to beat some we had last year! Anyone with any ideas is welcome to step up and host the mystery meal. The most important part is the gang getting together. Last year, if you remember, we went from a short drive around town all the way to Rawlins Wyoming. Anything you come up with will be great! I know Jani was talking about a trip to Oatman Az. I don’t know if this would be classified as a mystery meal but I guarantee it would be a blast!!!!!!!!!! Oatman is South of Vegas on route 66. And I mean OLD ROUTE 66!!!!
I’ll see you all at the meeting. If there is anything you want on the agenda please let me know.
CORVETTE INSURANCE The NCM offers insurance for collectible vehicles, which includes classic autos as well as brand new models, and therefore covers our Corvettes. I thought I’d tell you more about the NCM Insurance Agency as it might just be what you’re looking for.
I called NCM’s insurance rep, Adam Boca, who said NCM can insure for less than other companies because they focus more on customer service over advertising and the museum offers a single-liability premium. American Modern Insurance Group, Cincinnati, Ohio, underwrites and services the NCM Insurance Agency and only insures collectible vehicles. While this insurance may not be for everyone, as there are some restrictions, the NCM Insurance Agency wants us to enjoy and drive our Corvettes, and therefore offers several options. Here are some highlights to help you evaluate NCM insurance.
OPTIONS The mileage option includes plans at 1,000, 3,000, and 6,000 miles per year. If additional miles are needed to cover the Corvette, such as a trip back to the museum, extra miles can be added to the policy. When fewer miles are used than those selected in the mileage option, the unused miles are added to the next year’s mileage. … Various discounts apply. There is a multi collector-car discount, and up to 10% (State dependent) for being a member of a national car club (NCCC) or NCM, so you don’t have to be a member of the museum to get the discount. Others include On-Star, theft deterrents, an accident prevention course, large collections, etc. … There is one single-liability charge, no matter how many collectible cars you insure. Most insurance agencies charge liability coverage for each vehicle. Also, the single-liability premium covers all approved drivers, even if two or more are driving at the same time in different collector cars. … The agent and you determine the agreed value of the Corvette, verifiable by publications such as NADA, or appraised prices used at events such as Barrett-Jackson, Bloomington Gold, or Corvettes at Carlisle. … The deductible ranges from $0 to $10,000, with increments of $250, $500, $1000, $2500 and $5000. With the optional full safety glass coverage, the deductible is waived if the windshield requires replacement and there is no other vehicle damage. … If you have spare parts (OEM or after market) such as an engine, transmission, or wheels that are stored in your garage, these can be covered.
RESTRICTIONS The car is not covered for track events (races, autocross, drags). Rallies and cruises, car shows, etc. are not restricted. … If the Corvette is used as a daily driver, it does not qualify for insurance. But there is an option that allows you to drive the Corvette to work twice a week. Your daily driver must be another vehicle less than 15 years old because a much older vehicle is considered a backup rather than a daily driver. … The Corvette is not covered when it is used to run errands. A trip to a Corvette event, the DtRC meeting, a Mystery Meal cruise, a trip to the NCM, etc. is not considered an errand. … C5 and C6 Z06s and C6 ZR1 models have special premiums as they are considered exotic Corvettes because of limited production and limited/costly replacement parts.
OTHER BENEFITS If another collector car is added, it is covered up to $50,000 for 30 days. … Roadside assistance is covered, and if there’s a breakdown more than 50 miles from home (trip interruption) the policy pays for transportation, lodging, and other expenses up to $600. … Coverage includes pets injured during an accident.
CLAIMS American Modern Insurance Group is a national company with claim reps available for assistance. Claims are handled by dedicated car experts who know collector cars.
You can visit www.ncminsurance.com and learn a bit more to determine if your Corvette and your driving habits qualify for NCM insurance, and call Adam (1-877-678-2626 or 1-800-538-3883) to get answers to any questions. You just might save a bundle!
Here are just a few of the upcoming events. Let us know if you have one to add.
